Victory on the battlefield was easy. Ruling is the real war. Sixteen-year-old Tha’ir conquered a kingdom. Now the Emperor has named him Acting Duke of Khadira — a title that can be taken away the moment he fails. Before the weight of the crown fully settles, he rides home on a white horse the people already call a prophecy. They see the White Rider. He sees a boy still grieving his mother, talking to his horse because no one else listens without expecting miracles. But the road home isn’t safe. Arrows fly from the shadows. Old wounds reopen. And the legend they want him to become may be the very thing that destroys him. The boy who left in chains is returning as a ruler. The kingdom is about to learn what kind of duke he really is. What to Expect • Heavy internal struggle and grief • Political burden of ruling after war • Prophecy vs reality • Quiet family moments + sudden danger • Slow, character-focused pacing [Fantasy, Adventure, Political Intrigue, Coming of Age, Prophecy, Epic Fantasy, Male Lead, Strong Lead, Emotional, Tragedy, Action, Mystery, Kingdom Building, Character Driven, Slow Burn]
