The Waffle Warriors: The Golden Recess Mystery is a middle-grade adventure that blends mystery, teamwork, humor, and secret-club excitement. The story follows Liam "Coon," a clever member of the Rocket Rangers, whose long-standing rivalry with the Backyard Bosses is upended when the prized Golden Recess Trophy mysteriously disappears. At first, each club suspects the other, but Liam and Agent Violet (Jessi Progressi) discover evidence that an unknown enemy is deliberately trying to reignite the feud. As strange clues appear—including anonymous messages, a masked intruder, a stolen experimental invention called the Sunburn Ray, and missing club leaders—the two rival groups realize they must set aside years of competition and work together. Under the guidance of Number 1 and Queen Magenta, the Rocket Rangers and Backyard Bosses merge into a new alliance known as the Waffle Warriors. Their investigation leads them beneath the neighborhood into a sprawling network of forgotten tunnels, where they uncover the legendary Ancient Headquarters, a massive underground base built by earlier generations of neighborhood clubs. As they explore its hidden rooms, ingenious defenses, mysterious technology, and long-lost records, the children begin to suspect that the stolen trophy is only one piece of a much larger mystery tied to their neighborhood's history. Filled with imaginative gadgets, coded missions, playful humor, and fast-paced teamwork, the story celebrates friendship, courage, and the idea that former rivals can become stronger allies when facing a common threat. The mystery expands far beyond a missing trophy, setting the stage for future adventures as the Waffle Warriors work to uncover who is orchestrating the attacks and why the ancient headquarters—and its secrets—have suddenly become so important.
