Dead Eyes

Everything shall one day return to dust. For some, this moment arrives in too much of a hurry, robbing them of their bright future. For others, it comes too late, leaving them to brood in their many, many regrets. In Kary's case, this singular moment in time was neither here nor there, even though it felt like it could be either of them while at the same time being both, a liberation from the pain of living delivered too late, a slap in the face for all the effort she put in on keeping on living. But it shouldn't matter, right? After all, she gets a whole world to explore! No barriers, no restrictions, nothing to stop her from being whatever she wants! For once in her life, she was free!!! ...Not that she knows what she wants for the future, or if she will even be able to survive till then. But these questions are for future her to answer, as her current self is a bit too busy trying not to be decapitated in magical revolutions, get eaten by ravenous beasts, not become a vessel for the gods, amongst other impromptu calamities... y'know, all sorts of fun stuff!
