On a World surrounded by storms, peace hangs in the balance. Zilia, a bounty hunter, finds herself bereft of her greatest ally as peace negotiations are sabotaged. With few resources, she must discover who was behind the assassination and stop the guild war from tearing the Lower City apart, but will the Upper City allow her to organize a resistance? She has caught the attention of a Luitenant of the Special Division Police, hunted and surrounded by enemies. Will she have to accept help from the gangs who rule through terror or bow before the might of the Public Police? Can she survive those hungry for her blood, or will she have to make an unlikely alliance?

Hidden gem — exposure is the bottleneck
Readers who find this story follow it at a high rate; there just aren't enough of them. In our cohort data, near-daily posting lifted the odds of reaching 25 followers from ~0% to 17% — more chapters, shoutout swaps and ads buy the eyeballs this conversion deserves.
Benchmarks: 8,060 active Royal Road stories, percentiles within the 10–19 chapters band, cohort of 2026-07-02. Conversion is measured as followers gained per 1,000 views lifetime.
