About Subject 15 Subject 15 is the story of Jake McCoy. He is a broke, gambling-addicted guy from Boston who signs up for an experimental drug trial because he is desperate for money. The entire story is told through his private journal entries. It is raw, unfiltered, and written exactly how a guy like Jake would actually write it. Some chapters come straight from Jake’s laptop. Others are Side Fiction. These are outside perspectives that show what is happening beyond what Jake can see. This story is not polite. Jake is rough around the edges, flawed as hell, and he says things that are blunt, insensitive, and sometimes ugly. That is just who he is. The writing is not perfect either. It is messy, it swears, and it comes from a broken man who is trying to survive. If that sounds like something you can handle, then welcome aboard. If not, no hard feelings. Now dive in.

Both levers trail the field
Traffic and conversion are both below comparable stories. Cadence is the first lever — stories posting near-daily reached 25 followers 17% of the time; stories posting every few days almost never did. Get the flow going, then re-check conversion.
Benchmarks: 8,060 active Royal Road stories, percentiles within the 10–19 chapters band, cohort of 2026-07-02. Conversion is measured as followers gained per 1,000 views lifetime.
