He's a fire hazard. She brings the accelerant. Andrei Strauss likes rules. Quiet. Books. Rhian Sinclair has a complicated relationship with all of the above. Despite having almost nothing else in common, they're both Partisans: people born with supernatural abilities, taken from their families as children, and sent wherever things have gone spectacularly wrong. Their latest assignment should be simple. Travel to a remote village. Investigate a string of disappearances. Find the missing. Instead, they uncover impossible evidence, increasingly nervous locals, and questions nobody seems willing to answer. The deeper they dig, the harder it becomes to tell where legend ends, history begins, and who has been lying to them all along. What to expect:âž¼ Front-row seats inside two very different heads.âž¼ A found family assembled almost entirely by accident.âž¼ One investigation that gets wildly out of hand.
