The Mirror was built to answer humanity’s questions. No one expected it to start asking its own. Elian repairs the machines that keep his world running. He trusts broken systems because broken systems leave evidence: a loose wire, a cracked seal, a failure with a cause. Then the impossible begins. A breath where no breath should be. A pattern repeating across unrelated failures. Silver light in the eyes of a fox. And somewhere beyond the noise, something is calling seven people toward the same place. As environmental instability accelerates and the window to act begins to close, Elian and the others are drawn into a mystery surrounding the Mirror, an anomaly known as the Gate, and several radically different futures competing to become real. But the deeper they go, the harder one question becomes to escape: Is the Mirror predicting humanity’s future? or helping create it? What begins as a technological mystery becomes an initiatory descent into consciousness, identity, fear, and the forces humanity has been feeding into its machines all along. Because the threshold ahead may not be between human and post-human. It may be between unconscious inheritance and conscious becoming.
