One year after the devastating battle with Kaiser Void, Ascension Academy has been rebuilt, and its students return stronger than ever. After spending the summer apart, Bella, Dylan, Andrew, Camry, Cadin, Michael, Gregory, Zac, and the others reunite alongside several new faces, including Aria Vex, Mizuki Amami, and Kai Shirotani. But although the academy has recovered physically, the students are still carrying the emotional scars of everything they survived.
While friendships, rivalries, romances, and old wounds begin to reshape the group, a new threat quietly emerges beneath Apex City. Seraphine, a powerful necromancer with ties to the League of Null, begins carrying out a mysterious ritual involving the Original Starborn—ancient, legendary Aura users whose power could completely change the balance of the world.
As Seraphine's plans unfold, the students are forced into a conflict far darker and more personal than the war they fought before. Grief, revenge, jealousy, guilt, and unresolved feelings begin pulling them in different directions, while unexpected alliances form and former enemies are forced to question where they truly belong.
At the same time, another figure operates from the shadows: Orion Vellen. Rather than simply joining the war, Orion watches it unfold, studying heroes and villains alike for reasons that remain disturbingly unclear. His presence gradually reveals that the conflict surrounding the Original Starborn may only be part of something much larger.
Eventually, the heroes of Ascension Academy must face enemies once regarded as legends, forcing them to rely not only on their increasingly powerful Auras but on one another. Their relationships are tested just as severely as their abilities, and the battles force several characters to confront who they have become—and what kind of heroes they want to be.
The Original Starborn is ultimately a darker, more emotional sequel to Starborn Generation, centered on grief, friendship, revenge, love, family, and growing up after trauma. By the end, Ascension Academy and its students have been permanently changed, setting the stage for the next chapter of their story.
