What was the last free choice that he made? This question haunted Fyo. Within the campus of a military academy in the dystopian city of Daysity, Fyo Astrenia’s life is characterized by his small circle of friends and an aloof mind during lectures. One day, the superficial peace of the academy is disturbed by a tragic accident—an accident, at least, in everyone else’s eyes. To Fyo, it is simply another escalation in the suffering he has endured since being chosen as a Player by the Algorithm. Still, Fyo cannot bring himself to hate the Algorithm. After all, hasn’t he used this same cruel system to achieve his own ideals? A contract, so to speak? An anti-authority kid since birth, Fyo must sort through his complicated feelings toward the destined reality he has been forced into, while also making sure the taboo is not violated.
