Heaven; placed beyond the veil

Two hundred years ago, humanity remained almost extinct, a dying race hidden under the constant snowstorms from the south. The village was the only family I knew, with stories and memories that filled my youth with joy, but even that too was wiped away. Corrected under a pure white blanket as it wisped away the last burning flame we had. No matter what you are, no matter who you are, the snow will devour you eventually, erasing you and everything about you. The memories in people’s minds, the community you have built… and the flame that gave you the strength to fight it. The snow storm is a constantly brewing force. Throughout the constant ghost stories I was told in my youth, of glowing red eyes that lingered within the snowstorm, or tall men that stole kids when they were bad, I only had one hope to cling to. A story I remembered more than my mother’s face.
