Ren Takashi’s world ended in a quiet Tokyo hospital room. Crushed by the loss of the girl he loved, the sheer weight of his grief fractures reality, dropping him through the cracks of existence into Nhal—the void between worlds. There, an enigmatic celestial messenger offers him a choice: surrender to the dark, or take another morning in Varash, a living realm of swords, elemental mana, and ancient, fragile peace. Ren awakens as Zangetsu Clayvoire, the second son of a premier ducal military house in the Kingdom of Asterra. But Varash is no escapist paradise. Reborn with every memory and scar of his past life intact, Zangetsu is driven by a single dread: failing another chance to protect those he holds dear. Yet something dormant sleeps inside his soul. Centuries ago, an ancient cataclysm brought the world to its knees under the shadow of Ashura, a legendary four-armed entity whose name remains a terrifying taboo across the continent. When Zangetsu’s coming-of-age ritual fails to summon any recognized god, it leaves behind an unspoken fear that an ancient calamity has chosen an heir. Sent to the prestigious Crownspire Royal Academy, Zangetsu navigates political suspicion, noble intrigue, and ruthless rivalries. It is in the academy’s quietest archives that he encounters Princess Aelira Sylvaris, the watched and guarded heir of the elven Elarian Crown. Isolated by royal protocol and court expectations, Aelira finds in Zangetsu the only person who treats her as a human being rather than a crown. As old prejudices resurface and the continent edges toward the brink of war, an ancient power begins to stir within him. Zangetsu must walk the razor-thin line between becoming the savior his new home desperately needs—or the monster history already fears.
