In a world where every person is born with a measurable Pattern and every Expression can be classified, Bo received the simplest result possible: Non-Resonant. No usable Expression. No remarkable future. So he builds himself around what he can control: training, engineering, and a stubborn habit of understanding how things work. Then a university accident exposes something that should be impossible. For a few seconds, Bo sees the structure beneath an active Expression, and when he reaches for it, the system responds. At first it can be dismissed as faulty telemetry. Then it happens again. The deeper Bo investigates, the harder one possibility becomes to ignore: The rules modern civilization was built on may not be wrong. They may simply be incomplete. What begins as a private question between friends starts drawing attention from people with very different ideas about what Bo is, what he can become, and who should get to decide.
