Centuries after a catastrophic apocalypse, Earth has become a polluted wasteland known across the galaxy as “The Dumping Planet.” Powerful extraterrestrial civilizations use it as a dumping ground for broken machines, discarded weapons and advanced technological waste, while the remaining humans struggle simply to survive. Fourteen-year-old Kael lives in one of Earth's poorest settlements with his grandmother, Mara, a garbage collector who raised him after the disappearance of his parents. Unlike everyone around him, Kael doesn't see the mountains of technological waste as garbage. He sees possibilities. Using discarded machines and broken alien components, Kael secretly creates small inventions that provide electricity, medical assistance, tools and other necessities for his grandmother and their community. But one seemingly ordinary experiment changes everything. Kael accidentally activates a piece of technology far beyond anything humanity should possess—and sends a signal that is detected beyond Earth. As Kael begins exploring the forgotten technology buried within Earth's ruins, he slowly uncovers a mystery that could change humanity's future forever. The boy who once scavenged garbage to help his grandmother may become the person who teaches humanity how to build again. They forgot Earth. They forgot humanity. But they forgot what humans can create when they have nothing left to lose.
