by N. Kurose
At 2:13 a.m., a brief blackout hits the industrial plant where Ren Nakamura works the night shift. By the time he returns home, his younger brother Yuta is gone. At first, Ren assumes Yuta left after their argument. But his messages have disappeared, his number is missing from Ren’s phone, and family photographs have somehow changed. Then Ren calls their mother. She tells him he has never had a brobrother. Everyone has forgotten Yuta—everyone except Ren. Yet traces remain: a blue cup filled with coins, clothes left in the apartment, a damaged charger, and, most importantly, a handwritten factory document bearing Yuta’s name. Following that single piece of evidence, Ren begins investigating an old industrial accident and discovers records that contradict one another, unexplained disappearances stretching back decades, and a strange forty-seven-second anomaly connected to the plant. To find his brother, Ren must prove that a man the world no longer remembers once existed at all. And Yuta may not be the first person to disappear.
