ATARAXIA: The World Between Tides

Damian Ashford is twelve when a simple magic lesson does something impossible. The spell reaches the correct result... but one of the steps required to produce it never happens. No one can explain why; for a while, life simply goes on. Damian has a family he loves, a northern House he expects to inherit, a sister he still cannot beat with a sword, and Elena Varen, the childhood companion who has grown up beside him while remaining heir to a House of her own. He wants to earn a real sword, learn magic properly, become someone his family can rely on, and eventually take his place in the world already waiting for him. The strange incidents do not define every day, but they never receive a proper explanation either... and Damian slowly discovers that some truths are easier to keep than explain. The years change far more than his magic. Damian’s world widens beyond Ashford into friendships, rivalries, neighbouring Houses, inheritance, and the responsibilities that come with his name. Elena grows into her own authority at Varen, while the easy closeness between them becomes something neither can dismiss as childhood anymore. By sixteen, northern politics are pressing harder on both their Houses; a prince has entered their lives and earned their trust; and choices that once belonged to some distant adulthood have arrived much sooner than expected. Damian and Elena choose a future together... and, for a brief time, they are allowed to believe they will have it. Then Ashford falls. Damian loses the home, family, and future he spent years growing toward, and disappears into the Abyss while the world above begins counting him among the dead. Injured, cut off from everyone he knew, and trapped with the same impossible force he never truly understood, he must survive beneath a world that continues moving without him. If he ever reaches open sky again, survival will no longer be the only problem. The North will have changed, the truth of Ashford will already be hardening into someone else’s history, and Damian Ashford will be a dead man trying to find out what, if anything, is still waiting for him. What to Expect - Long-form, character-driven fantasy following Damian and the wider cast across years; choices, relationships, and consequences continue accumulating rather than resetting between arcs. - A lived-in aristocratic world of family, friendships, rivalries, noble Houses, inheritance, politics, war, and changing loyalties. - A very slow dynastic harem. Relationships grow through affection, family, alliance, obligation, and politics; new regions or victories do not automatically mean new partners. - The women involved retain their own ambitions, loyalties, authority, relationships, and lives beyond Damian. - Sword training, practical magic, combat, and progression through skill, judgment, experience, resources, and time. No levels, stats, status screens, or game system. - Supernatural mysteries appear sparingly but matter when they do; answers develop gradually rather than arriving through constant revelations. - A warmer coming-of-age beginning that gradually expands into romance, political conflict, betrayal, war, loss, and Abyss survival... with injuries, secrets, and consequences that persist. Release Schedule: Additional chapters during the launch period, followed by regular releases every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
