This Village Is a Dungeon [A Survival LitRPG]

Bramblewick has been declared a dungeon. The people living there would like to appeal. Tobin Reed was repairing the watermill when the village’s protection failed. Now adventurers can enter looking for treasure, while his family cannot leave. Bramblewick paid to keep its charter. Someone has made sure that payment doesn’t count. Accepting the role of Keeper gives Tobin a chance to defend his home, along with a Caretaker class he’ll have to learn under pressure. He knows where the mill’s supports are weakest. Holding a shield against someone determined to kill him takes practice. His companion is Dame Crumb, a knee-high stone gargoyle with a damaged wing and firm opinions about how he’s doing. Together they face creatures emerging from the old quarry and hired fighters testing the village’s defenses. Tobin earns stronger abilities with each hard-won level, while the people attacking Bramblewick learn from their losses. The man behind the village’s troubles intends to remove the hearthstone beneath the mill. Its magic binds Tobin’s family to it. Letting him take it means letting him take them. Tobin will have to keep the mill standing long enough for his neighbors to win their freedom, even as the fighting tears apart the place he’s spent his life repairing.
