Six travelers. One strange world after another. And every world has one rule that makes perfect sense—until you think about it. Dad, Mom, and their four children—Jun, Misa, Taku, and Riko—are traveling through the Second Earth Cluster, visiting Earth-like planets and staying with a different local family each time. On one planet, everyone eats at an exact time every day. On another, supermarkets are connected by underground pipes so that nothing ever seems to run out. Somewhere else, an entire country must decide which side people should walk on. To the people who live there, none of this is strange. The Earth Family Drops In is an episodic science-fiction comedy built around strange ideas, unexpected consequences, foreshadowing, and twists. Each episode takes about ten minutes to read and tells a complete story. The stories are suitable for readers of all ages, but they are not written only for children. Beneath the comedy are small thought experiments about habits, social rules, technology, and the things we take for granted. The series was originally conceived as scripts for an animated show and was later rewritten as fiction. A professionally edited Japanese book edition was published by Gakken in March 2025.
