Killed in action, a special operations soldier is reborn into a world of magic. There has to be a reason for a second life, right? Creager would settle for knowing how to survive it. The dead don’t stay dead, magic hangs thicker than jungle humidity, and something has scoured the region of almost all life. He has a new family, a handful of friends, and far more questions than anyone seems able to answer. Who destroys an entire coast—and what were they trying to kill? As Creager learns to wield hammer and flame, he can’t shake the suspicion that his arrival means something. Somewhere, a god may have plans for him. The question is whether he’s a tool or a plaything—and what happens when he refuses to be either.
