The Symbiotic Necromancer

Lazlo Sorel remembers the taste of an entire universe. He was once a scientist who wanted to create life. His greatest achievement took his body, consumed his world, and kept feeding until nothing living remained. Trapped inside it, he inherited the memories of everything it devoured. Eventually, he began enjoying the taste. The gods executed him before his creation could reach another universe. His story should have ended there. Instead, he awakens in the battered body of a seventeen-year-old biology student, one month before receiving a supernatural class. His new world is a battlefield in a war between universes. Portals bring invading armies. Planetary cores determine who survives. And conquest offers a way to escape the people who would own him. Lazlo chooses Soul Necromancy. Its skeletons are fragile. Their minds can barely follow instructions. But each carries a newly created soul, bound to its summoner. For a man who remembers the biology of countless extinct species, they are perfect hosts. Bone becomes the foundation. Symbiotes supply the flesh. What his creations devour determines what they become. And they are learning. As his Spawns develop their own abilities and unsettling personalities, Lazlo discovers how much easier research becomes when his experiments can hunt for their own materials—and wage his wars. With every victory, his army grows. With every creation, a kingdom becomes possible. Others fight to protect their homes. Lazlo intends to build a domain where his will is absolute. He understands the value of freedom. Especially his own. But one question follows him into his second life: What does a god taste like?
