John never expected much from life. He was a lumberjack living in rural America, struggling through an ordinary life that seemed to be going nowhere. When he decided to spend a few days alone by the ocean, he only wanted a break. Instead, he found a woman who should not exist. She came from Atlantis. Atlantis was never a myth, nor was it a civilization destroyed by the sea. Thousands of years ago, a catastrophe forced its ancestors beneath the ocean, where they survived, adapted, and built a technologically advanced civilization hidden from the surface world. The woman John finds is a member of one of Atlantis’s most powerful noble families. Ordered by the Lord Protector to enter a political marriage, she escaped to the surface in search of something she had never been allowed to choose for herself: her own life. With John, she finally begins to feel safe. But her disappearance exposes a secret that has remained beneath the ocean for thousands of years. Atlantis wants her back. Governments on the surface want the technology she carries. And behind diplomacy, both civilizations begin preparing for a conflict neither truly understands. Atlantis believes the surface stole its ancestral world. The surface sees technology and resources beyond anything humanity has ever possessed. One side calls it revenge. The other calls it security. In the end, both may simply call it greed. Two worlds. One humanity. The same human nature.
