Long before they became legends, they were four people with powers the world could not rival. Aurelian is the Immortal King. Aelia, the Sylph, commands the elements. Deucalion, the infamous Power Thief, steals the Gifts of others. Ianthe, the Absolute Healer, can restore almost any wound. Then Gifts begin to fail. Wounds return after being healed. Rivers refuse to flow. Memories contradict history. People disappear while the world continues as though they never existed. Something called the Stillness is spreading, and for the first time, the four most powerful beings in the world face something that does not care how powerful they are. Thousands of years before The Fifth (another one of our books), four stood where no fifth could follow. *THIS IS A PREQUEL TO "THE FIFTH" - BUT YOU CAN READ IN ANY ORDER
