In 1990, the turn of the millennium approaches slowly. The Commonwealth of Hartnoia is more prosperous than ever. Its current decade is lauded as the golden age by the high councils. However, secrets and ghosts simmer beneath the Commonwealth threatening its prosperity. Five academy students find themselves in the center of this rot. Sophia learns her family is in danger from a secret they thought was forgotten. Kousei's inability to cast drives him toward a forgotten inquisitorial case. Rodion dreams of an inferno that promises a kind oblivion. Yijun encounters a cult that proves the Commonwealth's prosperity false. Nasrin hears a dead man's voice in a failing automaton.
