Lucas Hale is 15. He lives in THE WARD, the slums of a world where everyone has powers except him. He works, he survives, and he doesn’t believe in miracles. Then he takes a bullet for someone else. And dies. He should have stayed dead. Instead, the Gods drag him back. And they’re not done. They shove two legends into his soul: Zhan Long, the Dragon General. Betrayed on his battlefield. A man of honor, duty, and endless discipline. Asher Vane, the Demon King. Betrayed by his own children. A monster of ambition, lies, and endless hunger. Why? Because the Gods are curious. What happens when you force a Dragon and a Demon to train a human boy who believes in nothing? The answer comes at age 18. That’s when Lucas awakens as the Shadow Monarch — master of the dead. Until then, Lucas is just a kid with two voices in his head. One screaming "TRAIN HARDER". The other whispering "TAKE WHAT’S YOURS". To survive THE WARD, Lucas will have to listen to both. To become a king, he’ll have to become something new. This is SOUL BOUND. Two souls. One vessel. God’s experiment.
