In the 2nd century AD fierce, brutal and brilliant Roman General Marcus Statius Priscus serves the Empire in a way like no other general does. He travels from province to province and confronts demons, ghouls, vampires and other creatures that have been summoned by locals to defy Roman rule. Partly based on the actual history of Marcus Statius Priscus this story is told from the perspective of his diaries and letters sent to his father and wife. The creatures and demons Priscus deals with are from myths and legends of the Roman provinces he served in and would have been known in those times.
