Along the coast of Maine, in a tiny village hidden from most, is a community of witches who keep to themselves. The town of Broomstick Harbor doesn't want any attention from the supernatural community at large and strives to keep a low profile. Evelynne Brewer is the black sheep—er—black cat of her village. Literally. After using a forbidden spell at a young age, Evelynne wound up irreversibly changed into a witch who was part cat/part girl. And just about everyone in the village has treated her like an embarrassment ever since, including her family. Stuck on duty as the overnight Watcher for her village, Evelynne grows more bitter by the day. And her dream of starting a small baking business seems to slip further away.  Dash Blakely is a wandering witch who has never known a true home. She's bounced from job to job and state to state, without any real tether in life. But everything changes when Dash wins an enchanted house in a mysterious contest she doesn't remember entering. As Dash arrives in Broomstick Harbor, she soon crosses paths with Evelynne and is quickly smitten. Evelynne, meanwhile, remains as grumpy and suspicious as ever. It doesn't matter how cute the new butch in town is. When Evelynne sees a chance to change her fortunes for good, she leaps at the opportunity. She just needs to convince the village that her life is finally getting back on track. And Evelynne decides the best way to convince her family and village that she's a changed woman is to show them all she can maintain a healthy, steady relationship with another human being, one who doesn't hiss at loud noises or bite people for getting too close. As she settles into her new enchanted home, Dash senses that this might just be the perfect place for her to settle down and start living a real life. And if she has to pretend to be some grouchy witch's girlfriend for a little while, where's the harm in that? It might even be fun for Dash to see if she can actually charm the grump of a girl.  Of course, magic can be unpredictable. And love is one of the strongest kinds of magic there is.
