Mortals' Remorse

A long time ago, humanity was living peacefully until mysterious creatures—whom they called "Inferas"—suddenly started appearing from seemingly nowhere. At the time, human iron weapons were useless against these unknown entities. As time passed and Inferas continued to wipe out villages and slaughter people in throngs, humanity was forced to adapt. One day, one of the most intelligent civilians discovered that by precisely visualizing the physical process of nuclear fusion in his mind, he could create fire out of thin air. Thus, sentinel practices were born. Humanity began to evolve, creating "magic" backed by precise scientific processes occurring within their minds. They didn't stop at only fighting infera's, but also integrated these practices into architecture, medicine, and engineering. Fast forward to today, 1,9XX years ATR (After the Rupture): Alens is a bright youth who aspires only to live a peaceful life, while his friend Insigni aspires to become a Sen-Ops agent—a member of the special military service dedicated to fighting Inferas.
