Marcus is conniving to capture some rather unprofessional pictures of a political rival when he is kidnapped to meet an immediately antipathetic “godking” who informs him the world he knew before was temporary, and has reached its limit. Thrust onto an overhauled planet with hostile beasts and mysterious dungeons, Marcus and his fellow Earthlings find themselves in immediate danger, provided nothing other than the clothes on their backs. Marcus has never been in a real fight. The multiverse expects him to conquer his planet within the month.
