When Robert inherits a crumbling old house from a great-great-uncle he never knew existed, he expects a tedious few days sorting through a dead man’s belongings. He doesn’t expect the dolls. Hundreds of them fill the house, dressed in impossibly intricate clothing and staring from every shelf. Stranger still, the locals seem to know far more about Robert’s inheritance than he does—and they keep calling him the Caelator heir. Then dolls begin appearing where they weren’t before. Robert starts seeing things that can’t possibly be real. And his best friend begins acting very, very strange. People don’t turn into dolls. Robert is sure of that. He just wishes the evidence would stop suggesting otherwise.
