Rainhard wants to return to the home he lost. Arganta wants to escape the home that owns him. When their paths cross, both become targets of the same powerful man. Rainhard was meant to inherit the throne of Onphalla. Instead, an ancient oath cast the vampire crown prince into a foreign world where sunlight burns his skin, the mana he knows is almost nonexistent, and every human would fear him if they discovered what he truly was. Raihana should have run when a starving stranger appeared at her door and asked for her blood. Instead, the reclusive novelist gave him shelter, trust, and a place beside her. For the first time since losing his world, Rainhard finds humans he does not wish to frighten, and a life he may one day regret leaving behind. His only hope of returning lies within traces of ancient magical energy hidden across Earth’s historical sites. To reach them, Rainhard must rely on the very people he was taught to distrust. Among them is Arganta, the heir to a powerful corporate family who possesses wealth, influence, and everything except control over his own life. While Rainhard searches for a path back to his kingdom, Arganta sees in him the courage to finally break free from his father, Neven. But Neven is already watching. To him, Rainhard is neither a lost prince nor a living being. He is a secret worth exposing, a power worth possessing, and the perfect weapon to keep Arganta under his control. Every trace Rainhard follows brings him closer to Onphalla. It also brings the world closer to discovering that something it may call a monster has been living among them. Rainhard came to Earth determined to return to the kingdom that needs him. But what will he choose when the world he planned to leave becomes the first place that teaches him how it feels to belong?
