The war was just the beginning. Marcus Cole thought activating the Prime Nexus would buy him time. He was wrong. The disruption crippled the Architect's network, but it also woke something worse. The old war isn't coming. It's already here. The Expanse is flooding with monsters. The Ascended are mobilizing. And the Architect's servants have set their sights on the Valdrian Kingdom. Now Marcus must take the fight to the heart of a nation on the brink of collapse. The King is weak. The nobles are circling. A decree that would brand every freelancer an enemy of the crown is days away. And the only allies he has are a ranger with a noble past she can't escape, a scholar navigating a court that would burn her for heresy, and two Ascended defectors who risk everything to break free. But Marcus Cole is a Marine. He's spent his life adapting, surviving, and completing the mission. The Architect doesn't know what it's up against. The Marine: The Old War is the second book in the First Silence saga. It's a military LitRPG isekai about a soldier who treats politics like a tactical problem and a System that's learning just how dangerous a trained mind can be. Slow-burn progression, realistic combat, and a protagonist who answers the question: what happens when you drop a modern warfighter into a fantasy world that's never seen one before? What to expect: A competent MC who earns every Level Adaptive class evolution based on real combat behavior Political intrigue grounded in military strategy Found family dynamics with a pragmatic ranger, a cynical knight, and a scholar with too many secrets A war that's been brewing for ten thousand years
