Almost 400 years after the Diviner prophesied his arrival, the Herald, Simon Baladan, is beginning his magical education with the Church of Cadmus. Bridgette Silverdime's fate is somehow tied to Simon's as the only woman mysteriously capable of learning sigil magic without losing her mind-- the similarly foretold Queen. Simon's sister, Lily, is sidelined to train with the Warrior Nuns that protect the magical secrets of the monks-- and the world from those same mages, should they turn against it. Meanwhile, the embers of the now four-century-old rebellion, lead by the immortal enchanted creature Alexis Stitch, are nearly quashed. The land of Arcansia prepares to once more assault the northern countries with their magical might-- at the behest of a shadowy conspiracy. Centuries of secrets, guarded by the church, obscure the lines of reality. Can the trio pick apart the threads? And just how many lies were they told?
