Rise of Alterra: Proxy from Sol is a first-contact space opera centered on Dak Ward, a human astronaut who becomes the unlikely proxy of a powerful alien Arbiter after humanity discovers it has been deliberately isolated from a much older galactic civilization. Rather than immediately throwing Earth into a galaxy-wide war, the story follows Dak as he learns how the Galactic Council actually works—its species, politics, trade, laws, rivalries, and the enormous technological gap separating humanity from everyone around it. At the same time, the Arbiter’s reasons for protecting Sol begin to unravel, old conflicts start moving again, and humanity’s arrival becomes tied to secrets much older than the Council itself. It leans heavily into first contact, alien cultures, diplomacy, political maneuvering, military sci-fi, ancient technology, and character relationships, with the scale gradually expanding from one human trying to understand the galaxy to humanity finding its place inside it.
