Maya Cross, a skeptical paranormal podcaster, investigates a mysterious hum coming from ancient sites around the world. When she discovers the phenomenon is spreading and children are beginning to respond to it, a mysterious scientist claiming to be connected to the original investigation contacts her. He sends Maya a map revealing a vast underground network and urges her to meet him at a subway station. There, Maya witnesses a horrifying green substance emerging from beneath the tracks and realizes something beneath the earth is waking up.
