Overlord - What if Ainz had a system?

Fanfiction of Overlord by Kugane Maruyama. I own none of it. Ainz Ooal Gown, the Great Tomb of Nazarick, the Floor Guardians, Re-Estize, E-Rantel, and the rest belong to their creator. Please buy the official light novels. They are better than this, they came first, and this story only exists because those books exist. This is a continuation-style what-if that picks up after Shalltear’s resurrection, when Ainz finally tests what a Yggdrasil gold coin is worth in this world’s money. He is not poor. He is convinced he is poor. That is the joke, and it is also the engine. A System appears and offers help: quests, a shop that reaches past this world, a path beyond level 100, and the chance — much later — to repair pieces of Yggdrasil and even touch the NPCs the Supreme Beings left behind. It also says, plainly, that other transmigrators are coming. Ainz almost refuses out of pride. Then he remembers the name on the tomb, and what he promised the friends who are not here. What follows is not “System says collect 10 wolves.” It is guild management with extra panic. A forge. A half-dwarf smith hiding in a human city. An economy too small for Nazarick’s vault. A rival who smells like grave dust and old roses. Guardians who will look at a man checking an exchange rate and swear he has just claimed the true name of the planet. What I am trying to write: the comedy of a man who thinks he is poor while standing on trillions; a System that is a watering can, not a second master; and a slower, dirtier kind of empire-building — contracts, forges, rumors, and rivals — while the Guardians keep building cathedrals out of his panic. If you want canon Overlord, read Maruyama. If you want “what if Ainz got a System and immediately tried to budget with it,” you are in the right tomb. PS: Remember — this is an alternate timeline. Maruyama built a vast, many-angled world. Dropping a System into it is only a small change on paper, and a large one in practice. When it entered, it shook the pillars of this continuum. From this point on the story will quietly rewrite scenes you may already know, not out of disrespect, but because that is what a change this deep does. You will see the butterfly effects as they land.
