World of Elenar: Scion

Thirteen-year-old Kip has spent his entire life as a servant. He has no last name, no education, and no reason to believe his future will ever change. Then, while protecting his only friend from a dangerous Raigen, Kip does the impossible—he uses magic. Kip is suddenly named a scion of the Harris family and sent to Rosewater Academy, where young mages learn to master their abilities and bond with powerful creatures called Raigens. With his own Raigen, Novina, at his side, Kip begins discovering just how unusual his Mental magic really is. But not everyone is excited to see a former servant walking the halls of the academy. As Kip struggles to understand his new powers, strange events begin to surround him. There are secrets hidden within his magic, questions about the father he has never known, and dangers at Rosewater that may be far greater than anyone realizes. For the first time, Kip has a chance to choose his own future—if he can survive long enough to discover what that future is.
