When monsters suddenly appear across the world, thirty-two-year-old Kaname Asakura has no combat training, no special weapon, and no idea how long civilization will last. What he does have is one strange Gift: He can see every monster’s Loot Table before he fights it. Food. Water. Medicine. Weapons. Armor. Rare equipment. And any monster Kaname kills is guaranteed to drop at least one item. Instead of chasing the strongest enemies, Kaname chooses his battles based on what he actually needs. If his family needs food, he hunts monsters that drop food. If he needs better armor, he searches for the right target. And every time he levels up, he puts his stat points into Luck—betting that better drops can make up for the strength he lacks. But surviving the apocalypse means more than becoming stronger. Kaname has a wife, a one-year-old daughter, parents, and a younger brother to protect. As monsters spread and the cities become increasingly dangerous, the family begins turning a rural home into a fortified base. Kaname’s advantage is simple: He knows what the monsters can give him. The real question is whether he can survive long enough to take it.
