The Risen

After one hundred years of war, victory is finally within reach. The armies of the Nine Spires have driven the Wyrm Lord Reth’Karae into the Mire. More than thirty thousand soldiers are gathering for one final assault, and by morning, the commanders believe the war may finally be over. Ten kilometers behind the battlefield, Junior Healer Callavhen is trying to survive the last night. Once a promising healer, Callavhen has spent years haunted by grief, failure, and a reputation he cannot escape. But when an unexpected act of courage catches the attention of the infamous Commander Rook, Callavhen is offered something he thought the war had taken from him long ago: A future. For the first time in years, he allows himself to imagine one. But something is wrong. Scouts have gone missing. Enemy movements make little sense. Reth’Karae is hopelessly outnumbered, yet refuses to retreat. And while eager commanders prepare to deliver the final blow, Commander Rook remains convinced that somewhere on the battlefield, they have overlooked something. What begins as a night of celebration becomes a desperate struggle to understand an enemy whose final strategy has been years in the making. Before sunrise, legends will be born. Heroes will fall. And one frightened healer will earn a name history will never forget. The Risen is a dark military fantasy novella about grief, courage, and the ordinary people trapped inside the battles that become legend.
