THE ECHO CHAMBER OF SELF

THE ECHO CHAMBER OF SELF

by Zeljko Kalinic Author

MysteryPsychologicalThriller

WHAT IF THE MOST CONVINCING EVIDENCE OF YOUR LIFE WAS A LIE?  Sarah Jenkins has spent her career exposing lies. As an investigative journalist, she has learned to distrust appearances, question witnesses, verify documents, and follow evidence wherever it leads. She believes truth may be difficult to find, but that it ultimately leaves a trace. Until she discovers that someone has begun erasing hers. It starts with a video. Sarah watches herself doing something she knows she never did. The face is hers. The voice is hers. The gestures are unmistakably hers. The date is real. The location exists. And yet none of it happened. Then comes a recording of her voice confessing to something she cannot remember. A photograph captures an encounter she swears never occurred. Official documents contradict memories she has carried all her life. One by one, the foundations of Sarah's identity begin to collapse. The deeper she investigates, the more disturbing the evidence becomes. Someone is not simply impersonating her. Someone is constructing an alternative version of her life—one in which her memories are unreliable, her past is questionable, and even the people closest to her can no longer be certain who she really is. Then Sarah discovers something far worse. The alterations are not being made to her past alone. ‘They are happening now.’ In a world where artificial intelligence can manufacture voices, faces, documents, memories, and entire histories with terrifying precision, truth is no longer something that can simply be proven. ‘And if every piece of evidence can be fabricated... how can Sarah prove that she is really Sarah?’ As reality begins to fracture around her, she is forced into a terrifying confrontation with the one thing she has always believed she could trust: ‘herself.’ BUT WHAT IF EVEN THAT HAS BEEN REWRITTEN? ‘THE ECHO CHAMBER OF SELF’ is a psychological thriller about identity, memory, artificial intelligence, and the terrifying possibility that the greatest deception is not making the world believe a lie— ‘but making you believe it yourself.’

Both levers trail the field

Traffic and conversion are both below comparable stories. Cadence is the first lever — stories posting near-daily reached 25 followers 17% of the time; stories posting every few days almost never did. Get the flow going, then re-check conversion.

Benchmarks: 8,060 active Royal Road stories, percentiles within the 10–19 chapters band, cohort of 2026-07-02. Conversion is measured as followers gained per 1,000 views lifetime.
