Maya has survived monsters, impossible corridors, starvation, and the slow realization that the world around her has stopped obeying the rules. Then she finds a house. Warm lights. Clean sheets. Home-cooked meals. Safety. And her dead mother waiting in the kitchen. After months of running, Maya finally has everything she thought she had lost. Her wounds stop hurting. Her mother forgives her. The nightmares fade. For the first time since becoming trapped in an endless maze of hostile spaces, Maya begins to believe she has found somewhere safe. But the longer she stays, the less she remembers. Names disappear. Faces blur. Pieces of her past begin appearing inside the house, built into its rooms as though something is collecting them. The house is not protecting Maya. It is feeding on her. To escape, Maya must fight a predator that does not hunt with claws or teeth. It uses comfort, grief, guilt, and the voice of the person she misses most. And every memory Maya loses makes the trap stronger. THE VELVET SNARE is a psychological survival-horror novella about grief, identity, false comfort, and the terrible price of getting exactly what you thought you wanted.
