After 22 years of marriage, June Layne has to keep a journal to answer one question: Is she losing her mind, or has someone spent years convincing her she is? Auggie LaRock can hear every disturbing word she writes. As she recollects years of uncertainty, he hangs on every word, looking for clues that might lead him to her. She is the one who was lost decades ago. A woman born with magic she knows nothing about, stolen from a family she doesn’t remember, and tied to him through a marriage alliance, between witches and werewolves, made before either of them had a choice.  Her disappearance was a death sentence for his family. They were meant to protect her, but they lost her instead, leaving the LaRock family cursed until she returns to her own. The Larock’s are dying out, unable to produce children, unable to turn and losing their power. They are being killed off slowly. While June writes diary entries backwards through a life built on secrets, Auggie pushes closer to finding her. Somewhere between finding the woman he was meant to marry, bringing her home, and breaking his family’s curse, duty becomes obsession.
