Aliens have forcibly evacuated Earth… So why is Jack Douglas in what looks like a fantasy world, complete with magic and medieval weapons? And why didn’t he get a shiny new artifact weapon or armor like everyone else who arrived here with him? And why are there so few refugees from Earth? Jack finds himself cast as a magic healer in a dungeon clearing guild that doesn’t see those as being particularly useful. He’s also easily the oldest member of the small group of humans dumped in this alien frontier city. It’s up to them to learn and adjust to the various alien races and magic granting System, so that, when later waves of humans arrive, they’ll have someone to help point the way. Humans are only the latest race to be added to Aendur and probably won’t be the last. Of course, nothing is ever that easy. They’re stuck on a backwater world where advanced technology simply doesn’t work. Killing monsters and cleansing [Corruption] are a normal part of Jack’s new job. Worst of all, there are bigger threats lurking that no one is aware of yet. Jack, and everyone else on Aendur, are about to find out about them the hard way too. Readers can expect: slow growth, slice of life, smart solutions, mistakes, tragedy, second chances, dirtiest jobs style dungeon delving, relationships that change over time, a big cast, old friends, new frontiers, and a seemingly poorly designed System. Things are going to change significantly over time in the story. There will be several major deaths in the first arc, but that is not something that will occur regularly afterwards. Chapter length is on average about 2750 words. Shortest chapter is just over 2100. Longest just under 4000. No AI was used in the writing of this story. Yes, those EM dashes are all mine. You’ll have to pry them from my cold dead hands before I stop using them. Temporary cover - generated using AI. This is not for long term use. Will be replacing with real art at a future date. Updates MWF Currently over 130 chapters already written. This story belongs to M T Sterrett aka Yells@Clouds. This is my second story, but first on RR or Patreon.
