Field inherited a territory. Unfortunately, it was the worst territory in the kingdom. Nightshade Territory is a poisoned wasteland surrounded by the Death Mist, overrun by undead, and abandoned by nearly everyone who once lived there. Its farms are ruined. Its treasury is empty. Its soldiers are barely enough to patrol the walls. And its people are so accustomed to starvation that they hide half their food the moment they receive it. Field has other plans. He'll rebuild the farms. Improve the food. Fix the roads. Train an army. Develop the economy. And turn this miserable frontier into a territory worth living in. After all, how hard can it be? He's only starting with a ruined estate, a handful of loyal servants, a terrifyingly powerful Chosen named Arshina... ...and an entire wilderness filled with things that want him dead. As Nightshade Territory begins to prosper, however, Field discovers that the undead aren't the only ones watching. Something else has noticed his little kingdom. Something intelligent. Something corrupted. And whatever it is... it's coming closer. Build the territory. Feed the people. Kill the monsters. Then worry about the kingdom.
