After the fall of human civilization, the war is carried on by combat units — androids built for battle, reconnaissance, and the clearing of contaminated zones. Their enemy is known to all. Qyvar: a hostile alien race whose machines seized vast stretches of Earth and turned the world into a battlefield without end. For eight centuries, what remains of the world has held together on nothing but military coalitions, orders, and endless operations. When a combined squad is formed from two coalitions for a new mission, everything begins like an ordinary military task.
