For ten years, sixteen-year-old Julian Sterlyn has survived in the sulfurous mud of Sector 4 by mastering the art of being invisible. He keeps his head down, sweeps the orphanage steps, and asks no questions about the past he cannot remember. Only four sensory fragments haunt his sleep: the taste of copper, the touch of cold stone, suffocating black smoke, and a woman’s desperate scream tearing through the fire: Run. Around his neck hangs an ancient bronze-iron pendant—cold, heavy, and completely unyielding. Then he finds the warrant. Nicked into the damp wood of an alley is a decade-old wanted poster bearing a face unmistakably his own—down to the pale scar carved above his left eyebrow. Driven by a desperate need for answers, Julian begins pulling on the threads of a forgotten history. But the deeper he digs through redacted ledgers, silenced witnesses, and abandoned estates, the more disturbing the evidence becomes. The fire was not an accident. The city’s records were systematically rewritten. And his own survival begins to look less like an overlooked tragedy, and more like a deliberate, terrifying design orchestrated by the highest authorities of the Obsidian Spire. When the cold seal around his neck finally stirs under mortal terror, something ancient and unnamable awakens within him. It does not mock him. It does not demand obedience. It falls to its knees. It calls him Vessel. The entity grants Julian the power to Scour—to consume the Essence, abilities, and memories of other beings. But every consumption demands a transaction. Every life he takes leaves behind an Echo: borrowed memories he never lived, foreign fears, alien instincts, and shifting loyalties. The more power Julian takes to survive the hunt, the harder it becomes to answer the only question that matters: Where does Julian end, and everything he has consumed begin? To uncover the truth of what happened that night, Julian must infiltrate the Obsidian Spire and play their lethal game of bloodlines and politics. But the greatest horror isn't the monsters waiting in the high towers. It’s the growing, inescapable dread that the wanted poster might have been telling the truth all along.
