The Barowick Initiative

Thirteen-year-old Rowan Tiller has never considered himself particularly heroic. Until now, he's never had a reason to. Beyond the boundaries of the ordinary world lies a realm hidden from humanity - a land of sprawling kingdoms, ancient dungeons, monsters, and warriors whose lives are governed by Classes, levels, and abilities visible through a mysterious force known as Dungeon Sight. And something in that world has just awakened. When Rowan Tiller is unexpectedly taken from his ordinary life and brought across the divide, he learns that the realm has protected a centuries-old secret. Children from his world are chosen to cross over and join its defenders. Now, at only thirteen, Rowan Tiller has become one of them. Enrolled at the legendary Barowick Academy, he must discover his Class, master abilities he never knew existed, survive lessons far more dangerous than anything offered at home, and find his place among students who have spent their entire lives preparing for adventure. At first, it is everything a kid could dream of. But veteran students are disappearing. Creatures thought to belong only in history are returning. And throughout the realm, an impossible message has appeared: [WORLD QUEST: THE SECOND COMING] Whatever has awakened was once powerful enough to threaten the entire world. And this time, Barowick believes children like Rowan may be the only ones capable of stopping it.
