Humanity crossed the stars to settle Nhem, but generations later, the descendants of the colonists are losing both their history and their humanity. The alien world is beautiful, fertile and relentlessly hostile: immense forests swallow human settlements, spores permeate every living thing, and strange organisms blur the boundaries between plant, animal and human. Science has faded into legend, while the colony ship Cybely has become the sacred Mother Ship and the forces reshaping humanity are worshipped as gods.
