Geneva Rictus has spent her entire life learning how to disappear. Born into the slums with only her gambling father, her sole defense ag is her meek, forced smile. Unable to pay what he owes, her father sells Geneva to a slaver from Miththaca. Miththaca, the only place where people with abilities straight out of myths, can be found. Geneva immediately becomes part of a mystery that could tear the city apart from within. These Fictionals' bodies are being found with the right sides of their brains removed. When Geneva’s rage finally bubbles over, she loses herself to her myth of the Minotaur. She unleashes the bull’s fury on her slavers, all with a smile on her face. Before she is entirely lost, Geneva is saved by Ray, a mysterious woman with the ability to turn people to stone with a glance. Though Ray saves her, she seems to have ulterior motives she isn’t willing to share. Now on a team of dangerous Fictionals, Geneva must embrace the city and all the supernatural dangers within. She will fight to help her new friends and catch Miththaca’s serial killer. The more she discovers about the city and herself, the more she must decide whether surviving means continuing to make herself invisible or finally allowing herself to be seen and her power felt. In a city where myths are real, the most dangerous story may be the one Geneva creates herself.

Both levers trail the field
Traffic and conversion are both below comparable stories. Cadence is the first lever — stories posting near-daily reached 25 followers 17% of the time; stories posting every few days almost never did. Get the flow going, then re-check conversion.
Benchmarks: 8,060 active Royal Road stories, percentiles within the 5–9 chapters band, cohort of 2026-07-02. Conversion is measured as followers gained per 1,000 views lifetime.
