A forgotten suit of living armor waited four thousand years for a compatible pilot. It found Marcus Arthur — a janitor with a 4.7%chance of surviving what came next.
Marcus cleans floors for a living. Night shift, invisible, thirty-oneyears old — until the sword in a museum display case answers when he touches it.
He wakes on Aethon, fused inside EXCALIBUR, a suit of magitech armor nothing has moved in four thousand years. It doesn't come off. The system reads him in seconds: Laborer class, corrupted metric, survival odds 4.7%.
The Advocate — EXCALIBUR's ancient AI — doesn't believe the number.
It's spent four thousand years looking for someone the system can't measure, and it thinks it just found him. The empire that rules Aethon disagrees, and means to correct the mistake.
Marcus doesn't think he's special. He just keeps showing up. That turns out to be the one thing nothing on Aethon knows how to measure.
A slow-burn, character-driven progression fantasy — closer to The Will of the Many than to a dungeon crawl. For readers of Iron Prince, Cradle, and The Will of the Many.
