(Disclaimer): This story is a fanfiction based on "He Who Fights With Monsters," a LitRPG series written by Travis Deverell, a. k.a. Shirtaloon. This fanfiction starts between the events at the end of the 11th book and the start of the 12th book. While I write this within the world of Pallimustus, I hope to reference the larger narrative events of the original work only when needed. My goal is to have this work be able to be understood and enjoyed even if you haven't listened to or read the original. Distractions during an adventure tend to be dangerous. Kari always dreamed of fighting monsters and exploring the world like a true adventurer. After being allowed to learn from actual members of the globe-spanning Adventure Society, she thought she was ready with her newly acquired essences. However, things are never quite so easy. After a horrible accident leaves her waking up injured and being interrogated. Kari has to learn what it truly takes to thrive, not just survive, in a world full of magic, monsters, and mystery. First, though, she has to learn what this "System" wants with her.
