The Suffering Game

The Suffering Game

by LyeeNobyl

ActionAdventureApocalypseDungeon CrawlerFantasy

*Cover Art by Cryptid Caverns Crafts* Ethan Carter only needs one good Awakening. After spending eight years working to keep his sick older sister alive, turning twenty is supposed to be his way out. A decent rank means Hunter work. Hunter work means money. Money means treatment. Instead, he gets an F-rank class called Damage Recorder with no skills and nearly civilian stats. His first dungeon changes that. His class remembers suffering. Cuts. Burns. Broken bones. Poison. Every injury Ethan survives can become a record, and enough recorded trauma can become resistance, adaptation, or something stranger. Most Hunters grow stronger by avoiding damage. Ethan may have to do the opposite. Which would be a much worse idea if he hadn't spent most of his life believing his own body was the one thing he could always afford to spend.
